Context
The Rivian Adventure Rental (RAR) concept reimagines the future of adventure mobility. Designed for outdoor enthusiasts who don’t own a vehicle but crave exploration, this project envisions a spacious, adventure-ready rental vehicle seamlessly integrated into Rivian’s ecosystem.
By blending research, user needs, and design strategy, I developed a fully 3D-modeled and visualized concept that aligns with Rivian’s sustainability-driven, adventure-focused brand philosophy.
Research & Strategy
Before diving into design, I researched:
🔹 Rivian’s brand DNA – Sustainability, adventure, electric off-roading.
🔹 Current vehicle lineup – R1T, R1S, and future expansion strategies.
🔹 Trends in car rentals & overlanding – Rise of rental-based adventure travel.
🔹 Pain Points – Primary research at Joshua Tree to study how campers interact with vehicles.
Key insight: Many adventure lovers don’t own vehicles due to cost, maintenance, or sustainability concerns. This led to the idea of a purpose-built rental solution that offers the thrill of adventure without ownership barriers.
It is estimated that over 87.99 million people engaged in camping activities in North America in 2023, with 5.5 million new campers.

Hates the hassle of renting camping gear separately.

Wants a seamless vehicle access system.
Needs a comfortable experience for extended trips.
These insights shaped the design approach, ensuring the RAR vehicle provides an effortless, all-in-one adventure experience.

Design Approach
RAR was designed as a modular, self-sustaining adventure vehicle that blends functionality, comfort, and technology.
Key Features:
✅ Integrated Gear Storage – Built-in compartments for outdoor equipment.
✅ Solar-Powered Energy System – Extends range and powers off-grid living.
✅ Smart Configurations – Convertible space for sleeping, cooking, and relaxing.
✅ Seamless Digital Access – Users can book, unlock, and control the vehicle via an app.
3D Modeling & Visualization
I 3D modeled the concept in Autodesk Maya and Blender, refining proportions, surfacing, and functionality. Then, I rendered realistic visuals using Unreal Engine and Blender, ensuring the design aligned with Rivian’s aesthetic language while feeling like a natural evolution of their brand.
